Prepare your jars and lids and rings by washing in hot soapy water.
Cut stems off figs and place figs in a large bowl
Using a potato masher, smash the figs to about halfway smashed.. This leaves some chunks that will taste like big pieces of strawberry.
Pour sugar and jello over the smashed figs and stir well
Place fig mixture in dutch oven and turn on heat
Bring to a rolling boil (cannot be stirred down) and time for 10 minutes
Pour into jars and place lids and rings on tightly.
Seal in a hot water bath, then place on a towel on the counter, making sure that the lids go flat and seal completely as the jars cool.
